Try this little experiment

So, for 1 week in history class we had to write down any racist/discriminatory comments we heard anywhere we went. This included racial, sexual, religious, and just rude comments in general. It really opened my eyes. Try it for a week, it only takes a second to write it down. The way i did it was a 2 column section in my notebook (left half for the date and entry and right half for my reaction) See how you change during the week

CAUTION! i didn't edit any of this so the following entry is raw, and extremely chancy...

My table

Date

Reflection

2/11/08

At lunch a friend of mine said she went to get her nails done last weekend. My other friend commented about how “those Asian’s always do a bad job”

I laughed along with everyone else and though it was funny. I didn’t realize what she had said until a few minutes later when I thought back.

2/12/08

When asked what her step-father’s name was my friend replied Jeremy, pronouncing it Jer-OH-me. Another friend asked if he was black.

I laughed because Jeremy is in fact a white man. But my friend seemed a bit shocked at the comment.

2/13/08

Some friends and I where making a bet, when asked who should hold the money someone pointed at me and said “Duh, Paulina should hold the money… she’s Jewish”

I laughed along with everyone else. Honestly I didn’t think very much of it.

2/13/08

A friend made a comment that “It sucks to be Phil since he’ll never get laid.” Phil is a larger student.

I laughed along but thought it was rude because Phil is a very nice person, and he shouldn’t be discriminated against because of his weight.

2/14/08

On the bus some friends where discussing their classes. When someone mentioned a classmate named “Olga” another person made a grunting noise making her seem like an uneducated “cave-person”

I thought it was pretty rude to say because the person hasn’t even met Olga, it shouldn’t be assumed that she isn’t smart just because of her name.

2/15/08

When asked if a friend liked the Jonas Brothers as a music group she replied “No, they’re bad singers and Irish”

I thought it was weird that she had to add that they where Irish to her sentence. It would have been a sufficient answer if she had just said “They’re bad singers”

2/15/08

Some friends and I went to the mall. We entered the bathroom where my friend tried pushing me out the door and joking about how “No Jew’s were allowed”

I knew my friend was joking but it was still a little hurtful. What does being a Jew have to do with going to the bathroom at a public mall?

2/16/08

In class we were talking about stereotypes and someone said “Our class has stereotypes, look the emo boy is sitting all alone!”

I laughed because the kid who was being called emo laughed too, but it was an awkward feeling in the room for everyone

2/16/08

On the bus a person asked why my (black) friend didn’t like him. She responded by saying “Maybe if you wouldn’t try to act like a black person all the time….” He replied “Whacha talkin bout yo?”

I never really realized it until my friend pointed it out, but people impersonate other cultures all the time and it could be taken very offensively if you are part of that culture.

2/17/08

A friend drew a communist symbol on my binder. I told him to wipe it off. He replied “But you’re Russian…. Aren’t you like Joseph Stalin’s relative or something”

I was pretty upset because I am not in fact a communist. Actually it shouldn’t be assumed that because you’re Russian that you’re a communist. Communism was one of the reasons my parents left Russia.

2/17/08

Someone made a comment that Hitler’s mom was Jewish. A friend of mine replied “I’m guessing she didn’t have blonde hair or blue eyes”

I felt offended by this because I am Jewish with (dirty) blonde hair and blue eyes. It shouldn’t be assumed that because 1 Jewish person looks a certain way, they all have to look like that.

2/17/08

I was talking to a friend and I couldn’t understand what she was saying. Because she had to repeat herself a couple times she jokingly said “You dumb Jew, you’re going deaf”

I was upset because what does being dumb or stupid have to do with being Jewish? In fact there are many famous Jewish scholars. She not only insulted me by calling me dumb, but she insulted my religion which was completely unnecessary.

2/18/08

Talking to my dad on traveling to Europe he said “Don’t go to France, they’re all morons there”

I thought it was pretty rude because he’s just making an assumption about all the people there, not every French person is a moron.

2/18/08

Again talking to my dad he said “And Germany, you can’t go there, they all want it their way or the highway. And if you don’t like it they’ll make you like it.”

This was also rude because he was making an assumption and saying that every German was in fact like Hitler, which is not true.

those were my results straight out of my notebook.

On my essay we had to write our reflections. I couldn't belive how easy it was to pick up on some of these things. They were around me all the time, even when i wasn't looking for them. And, at the start of the week i would just laugh along with my friends, (and i didn't even start thinking it could be derogatory untill i got home and had to type them up). As the week progressed you can see most of my reactions became "normal" or angry at people for saying something like that. And, in my oppinion as the week went on, the comments became worse and worse.....

it's very interesting to observe people. And i had people ask me all week, "Why are you writing that down? Wait, i didn't say something deregatory...." etc. People didn't even realize what they were saying, and if i didn't have this project, i would have just treated it the same as any other comment and not thought twice.

so try it out.... you'll be surprised with your results.

superbowl 42

Patriots lost =[. They may not be my home team, but they're my second favorite. Or the fact that my dad is pretty much anti New York. But still. Hello.. Brady... what did you do before the game? Where you watching Donovan Mcnabb tapes or something? *smacks forehead*

The game was excellent to watch though. It was one of the few superbowl's i acctually watched (and yelled and jumped up and down) hehe *cough it had nothing to do with the really hot kid i was sitting next to or anything cough*

The last quarter.. wow, i was so pumped! hehe, anyways it was great.. 'cept for all those bad passes from the Patriots....

but next year the Eagles are going to win it ..... right?.... okay well, get rid of our QB and maybe we'll have a shot XD

also, meme from
singnovember and tehrussian

Ask me anything you want, and I will answer later in a voicepost!

Is she Anemic?!

so i went to get blood drawn yesterday because my parents think that i'm Anemic (not enough red blood cells in the body thus a lack of iron). So wow, not fun at all.

First, i had to go with my dad -- who was no help at all. I hate needles, they creep me out, so i sort of wanted to hold his hand, of course he's terrified of blood and had to stand in the hallway.... back towards the room.....

Then the lady said it would only be a few minutes and then i could leave, but after (what seemed) like drawing the blood FOREVER, she told me i looked really pale. Now, i'm positive it wasn't the blood, because i have no problem with that. But, my father insisted that i am pale normally (and i am, i'm pretty sure i don't even need a costume to play Casper the friendly ghost.... ). But the Doctor was persistant and said i should sit for another 5-15 minutes to make sure...

After a few minutes arguing with the Doctor (by my father), i asked for some water feeling lightheaded. Little did i know 5 minutes later the room would go all white and spinny. Of course my father was freeked out and he and the doctor had to escort me to a room with a cot and put this damp washcloth on my neck. They said i was clammy, but i couldn't really tell.... i don't even remember if i was consciouss for the whole event. ... but, everything turned out fine 20 minutes later when i was sent home (finally)

now i just have to wait for lab results *shudder*

also book meme stolen from.. just about everyone

Science Fiction, Fantasy or Horror?

Fantasy. Though horror comes a close second. For some reason i've had some bad experiences with SciFi

Hardback or Trade Paperback or Mass Market Paperback?

It doesn't really matter to me, as long as it's a good book. Unless it's for a series, then i usually like to stick to hardback

Amazon or Brick and Mortar?

Brick and mortar. Amazon is pretty much a last resort sort of thing if i can't find it at the bookstore

Barnes & Noble or Borders?

B&N. Yes, i'm sure Borders is probably better and cheaper, but B&N is closer to my house, and i love the cozy atmosphere and smell... and because i don't get yelled at for acctually reading half the book in a comfy chair before deciding i like it

Bookmark or Dog-ear?

Dog-Ear, i always loose bookmarks

Favorite Science Fiction Author?

this one's tough, i havn't really come across any scifi i particularly like, i guess Madeline L'engle since i could stand a Wrinkle in Time... not so much any of the sequels though

Alphabetize by Author, Alphabetize by Title, or Random?
books are by author, DVD's are by title (only temporarly untill i get all of Johnny Depp's movies... in which case it will be chronological by release date)

Keep, Throw Away or Sell?

Keep. My friends come to me for good books, apparantly i find all these freaky books that are only sold in a certain bookstore... so yeah, pretty much half my shelf is at other people's houses though
Keep dustjacket or toss it?

Keep! They're pretty =]

Read with dustjacket or remove it?

usually i'll keep it on unless i want to preserve it specially or it's bothering me

Short Story or Novel?

Novels, i like longer books and series

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?

hmm, Lemony was my first "real" series i got into, but i hated the last book so i guess Harry Potter .. though i hated the 7th book as well... i guess they're equal

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?

Usually i'll start getting tired and try to find a nice chapter to end on (except i usually go through about 5 chapters before i realize my eyes hurt)

“It was a dark and stormy night” or “Once upon a time?”

Once upon a time it was a dark and stormy night?? haha. I do like origional books though, so no cliche's for me

Buy or Borrow?

Usually buy, unless i find a book at my friends house i really really like, or is shoved in my hands *cough Twilight*

Buying choice: Book Reviews, Recommendation or Browse?

Browse and recommendations. I'm a terrible book picker-er... i basically go into a bookstore and go off whatever catches my eye at first... then i start acctually looking

Lewis or Tolkien?

Tolkien, havn't read too much of either though

Collection (short stories by the same author) or Anthology (short stories by different authors)?

Collection. I like the flow better

Tidy ending or Cliffhanger?

well, you don't need to tie up every little detail, but if the book isn't a series or going to have a sequal please don't leave it on an outrageous cliffhanger =]

Favorite book that no one else has heard of?

The Seven Deadly Sins series.... apparently they're only sold online and in this one bookstore in Florida... it was by chance i picked them up

Currently Reading?

What the Birds See.... i'm not that into it though, it's not very catchy

Also, Are there any topics/things/whatever that you notice or think about that makes you think of me every time? If so, what are they? I'm curious!

The test with no answers (and many more stories from the depths of High School)

wow, its been a while huh? Ehh, long post it is =]

So MIDTERMS/FINALS ARE OVERRRRR!

but still

A Test with no answers...

no really, my English midterm had (tentitavly 12, could be more by the time i go back to school) Questions that just didn't have an answer. Yes, it had 4 choices, but they where all inccorrect. This was partially due to the fact that 4 different people acctually wrote the midterm and pieced thigns together and the fact that 2 of them don't teach an english coarse......

Also, there where questions where it said "in line 25 of the passage...." ... but line 25 of the passage was either nonexistant, or had nothing to do with said direction.

Finally, after not being able to understand half of the passages or answer about half the test (because it wasn't taught in our curriculm in general) I find out i got an 80% on my written essay. Now normally i would be quite happy with this grade, except i got points off for being too specific... really.... too specific?

i wonder if i'll be failing the coarse now?

So my friend introduced my to the manga Inuyasha. And i've completely fallen in love! Granted i'm only on book 204 out of errr 400-500 i think? But *squee* i love it so much! (and that's why i made these

and while we're talking about icons, i made these for a challenge, and they're just too cute to resist!!

and lastly
meme stolen from handyhunterand singnovember

THREE NAMES YOU GO BY:
1. Dean Winchester
2. The Pie Maker
3.Tom Hanson
4.Edward Cullen
5. Sweeney Todd
6.Jim Halpert
7. Dwight Schrute
8. Cain Hargreaves
9. Dr. Cox
10.Jack Sparrow
11. Sam Winchester
12. Hagrid

Have you ever read a Six/Eleven fic? Do you want to?
No, and i'm pretty sure there will never be one... to my knowledge .. though i guess it would turn out okay... Sam and Jim could have some fun pranking Dwight heh

Do you think Four is hot? How hot?
Well, according to everyone Edward is a hottie with a body!.. heh, to me i really depends on how you picture him, and right now i'm thinking Ashton Kutcher... *mmm* Ashton heh

What would happen if Twelve got Eight pregnant?
Oh noez! Wow.. that would be very uhh odd, not to mention the fact that Cain is about 17 years old and uhh.. has a fascination with revenge and women.. so, if that where to happen um.. i just... have not words O.O

Can you recollect any fic(s) about Nine?

i don't read too many Scrubs fic's ....

Would Two and Six make a good couple?
Well, if they where gay i would have to say yes... they both like redheads heh. But, they acctualy are quite similar, both are funny, but quiet in regards to starting a relationship and such

Five/Nine or Five/Ten? Why?

5/10.... only to see 2 Depp's at the same time!! Only downside would be Mr. T would get too annoyed at Jack and probably end up killing him.... O.o

What would happen if Seven walked in on Two and Twelve having sex?
He would just turn around.... or say something like " As a volunteer sherif i am telling you this is improper conduct in this place)... heh

Make up a summary for a Three/Ten fic.

Jack Sparrow breaks the law and Officer Tom Hanson in on pursuit when finally they realized they're ultimatly the same person... which complicates things a bit.. haha

Is there any such thing as One/Eight fluff?

haha Dean/Cain... no.. haha... it would probably never happen, all they have incommon is their protection of siblings....

Suggest a title for a Seven/Twelve hurt/comfort fic.

Hagrid/Dwight... It's okay to be made fun of

What kind of plot device would you use if you wanted Four to deflower One?

Uh, Dean losing to a vampire? .. well, i guess Edward could just read his mind or somehow convince him that he was legitimatly good.
Does anyone on your friends list read Seven slash?

hmmm acctually yes, with Dwight's break up with Angela i've seen a bit of Dwight/Michael and Dwight/Pam and such slash...

Does anyone on your friends list read Three hentai?

Well err yeah... he's basically the idol of the 80's... and he's Johnny Depp.. i mean.. come on!!

Does anyone on your friends list write or draw Eleven?

yes *cough* finchory has been known to draw SPN

Would anyone on your friends list write Two/Four/Five?

Probably not, seeing as Ned would be dead with the battle of Sweeney Todd trying to kill Edward... not good.. not good.

What might Ten scream at a moment of great passion?

"Where's the RUM" ... i know, so commercial right?
If you wrote a song-fic about Eight, which song would you choose?

probably Disenchanted by My Chemical Romance.. he's a bit of a pessimist that Cain

If you wrote a One/Six/Twelve fic, what would the warnings be?

uhh Supernatural creatrues BEWARE heh

What might be a good pick-up line for Two to use on Ten?

would you like some rum pie?

When was the last time you read a fic about Five?

i have not yet.. though i'm waiting for some good slashy ones =P

Would Eleven shag Nine? Drunk or sober?

hmm, dunno, maybe if Dr.C saved Dean from a deadly disease?... okay nah...in which case Drunk.

One and Nine are in a happy relationship until Nine suddenly runs off with Four. One, broken-hearted, has a hot one-night stand with Eleven and a brief unhappy affair with Twelve, then follows the wise advice of Five and finds true love with Three." What title would you give this fic? Name three people on your friends list who might read it.

Dean and Dr.C are in a happy relationship until Dr.C runs off with Edward. One, broken hearted has a hot one night stand with Sam (finally) and a brief unhappy affair with 12. Then follows the wise advice of Mr.T and finds true love with 3.

wow.. i would so read that.. Dean +Sam... though i doubt Mr.T would give any good advice.. hehe but either way.. Dean + Tom Hanson is LOVE!!!

heh uhh "The Hunter and the Cop, featuring Dean as a manwhore" Anyone that loves Wincest or Johnny Depp (i guess that just leaves.. uh me) should read!

How would you feel if Seven/Eight was canon?

ick... just.. no... never... hah i would drop both fandoms

So this post is basically usless... hah, my life seems so dull. Nothing too interesting i guess, ....oh wait no .... i was going to ask for book suggestions. I was asking for unusual book (like Sex, Drugs and Cocoa puffs) or something mindless and entertaining... or just a good book in general. =]

Oh, and my ever present argument about the Flying Spaghetti Monster became a little more heated as well. My history teacher (who also teaches a religeon coarse ) refuses to teach the religeon of Pastafarianism because he says it was 'made up'. I don't want to get too deep as to not offend anyone, but really, who's he to say that someone's religeon of choice is not worth enough to discuss.......

anyway, 4 (hilariously funny) Twilight icons and 12 Sweeney Todd ones

fromtehrussian, star_x_faery, and julieelaine

1. I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away. Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you

2.Comment with a song that reminds you of me. Then repost this in your journal so I can do the same for you!

How delectable, oh so undetectable

End of the Year meme stolen from julieelaine, tehrussian, and handyhunter

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Went on an airplane by myself

2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't make New Year's resolutions

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
no

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No

5. What countries did you visit?
none this year

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
a date

7. What date(s) from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
um, i don't know, i guess June 22nd. That was the day i finally got a platform to myself at my summer job. And of course the day my grandfather had a stroke

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
i guess proving to my parents that i'm finally old enough to handle things on my own

9. What was your biggest failure? school

10. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
Does fainting down the stairs count?

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A tie between some books and my Sweeney Todd soundtrack (though i guess technically i didn't buy that one myself)

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
my grandfather. He survived the stroke without any major damage and has yet to mention it or make us feel guilty. He's just his jolly old self as if nothing happened

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My sister

14. Where did most of your money go?
useless things i don't need. but want anyway

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The fact that Sweeney Todd came out on my birthday

16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
hmm, probably Soulja Boy (only because it's the most overplayed song i've ever heard)

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:

i. happier or sadder?happier

ii. thinner or fatter? fatter. (i'm a growing girl)

iii. richer or poorer? i belive poorer thanks to my broken phone

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
study

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Waste time on my computer and television

20. How did you spend Christmas?
Eating chinease with the family... like all us jew's haha ;)

21. Did you fall in love in 2007? Does my perpetual love for Johnny Depp count? Well, that's been going on since 1999 so i guess not

22. How many one-night stands?
None.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
Supernatural,Pushing Daisies, The Office

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
no, i don't hate... i just extremely dislike people

25. What was the best book you read?
The Count of Monte Cristo

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Johnny Depp?... well, other then that probably either Hanson or Dispatch

27. What did you want to get?
good grades 28.

What was your favorite film of this year?
well if you don't know by now, Sweeney Todd =] though i'm sure i loved something else before that....

29. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
went out to dinner and a movie *cough Sweeney Todd* with some close friends... and i was... well, too young

30. What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Johnny Depp and all my new little sites i visit online

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
fashion concept? Heh, i was a t shirt and jeans kind of girl

32. What kept you sane? friends 33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
*stares blankly*... i think i mentioned his name at least 5 times.. but a 6th never hurt.. JOHN CHRISTOPHER DEPP II

34. What political issue stirred you the most?
the war, and our candidates for this year's election

35. Who did you miss?
my cousins

36. Who was the best new person you met?
Dylan

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
life comes at you hard and unexpectedly, and it's okay to ask for help or give someone some of your weight.... especially if you're falling from the pressure ]

Those crunching noises pervading the air!

So, i was away in Florida this week after my birthday (that would explain the lack of posts) heh

i won't bore you with details of my vacation, instead i'll just tell you about a series of books i found by Robin Wasserman

So, stumbling appon a local bookstore i was browsing through the "teen" books section. Though i normally dislike those books about the popular girl and her petty problems (i can't really relate, and it all seems like extra drama i don't need) But, today, a certain series caught my eye. i picked up the first book (part of it had to do with the very cute male model on the cover) but, as i sat down and read the first chapter i decided it was at least worth the $5 for me to take it home and read it.

Little did i know i would soon fall in love with the 7 main Characters consisting of those gorgeous jock boys Adam and Kane, to pothead Reed, goodgirl Beth and Miss popular herself Harper and her sidekick Miranda. And, not to mention Kaia, the out of town girl who finds her self in the middle of nowhere California with these kids and ... a very sexy British accented French teacher.

Of course this isn't one of "those" books where you make a fandom out of it, no, this is just midless entertainment for my boring vacation. I mean, in reality the book is basically about sex, cheating, sex, alchohol, boys, sex, partying, causing mischeif, sex and a bit of pot thrown into the mix

(entertaining right?) But, despite the petty problems and what you would think would be a boring and mundane storyline i just, couldn't tear myself away from these books.

it could have been Beth. She and i have a lot in common. Good grades, not a rule breaker, a "good kid" A person you can depend on. The "safe" girl. But, but they end of the series Beth (the only virgin of the group) has hooked up with a pot smoker and become addicted, bombed her SAT's and has decided on a whim not to go to college.

Then they'res Kane. The hot, unattainable guy (who just happens to have whored around with the whole cheerleding squad... and others) with that perfect smirk that just makes you melt and the snark to go with it. He's that badass i've always wanted to date.

Or was it Adam? The perfect jock, hot, sweet, nice, and most of all, a loyal boyfriend who acctually cares (maybe too much? Maybe not enough... since later on his hormonal needs take over and he cheats on his girlfriend of 2 years) The guy i've dreamt of dating.

Or it could have even been Miranda, the loyal best friend who always lurks in the shadows but has enough problems to deal with on her own. Of course no one notices untill she has a breakdown....

Yes, the plot is typical teenager "trash" i guess you would call it, and nothing itself makes it an outstanding series, but i don't know, they'res just something different about these books. It could be the writing, or just because i know i'll never make a fandom out of it... but for some mindless entertainment, or just a boring day inside the house, they're a great pick me up! (especially since i was laughing out of my mind on some of the chapters)

and here's the predictable part.....

The film i've been waiting to see since i caught wind of it about a year ago!

not only has it been nominated for 4 golden globes but.. um Johnny Depp sings.... he SINGS! And he's not to shabby at all!

The blood shouldn't scare you away from the theaters, i mean, yes, it's Tim Burton, and yes he does enjoy those red fluids a bit much but, the plot is great, the singing is great, the acting is great, and it's humourous!

I'll admit, i had my doubts about Depp's singing career from the start, but his amazing melodies with Helena Bonham Carter in my favorite song titled A Little Priest just blew me away. He was on key, they had a great voice together (the british accent helped to) but, they also had that great chemistry that you need on a set.

And the acting was spectacular. When Sweeney Todd was angry, the audience was angry, when he was missing his daughter, the audience was missing his daughter. Everything was on key to the T. You understood the silent cue's between Depp and Carter, and the pain that was felt throughout. And the emotions just swirled around you like you where there with them back in London.

Though i would have liked to see more of a story (and maybe a bit of a better connection) between Todd and his precious "friends" or razorblades he uses to shave the faces of his customers (or should i say victims). But, the broadway show was indeed much longer then the already pretty long movie.

i would tottally recommend this movie and even if you're a bit scared of the blood it's not as bad as it seems (okay, that's pretty much a lie.. but.. uhh... what can i say, i'm biased )

well, i mean, you HAD to know it was coming didn't you ;]

Would You Eat Them With A Fox?

So, as my sister's homework i was supposed to read her a story (Green Eggs and Ham) but, i thought that she should get some practice reading and she was so exited! I promised her i would record it so here it is! Her first real book! (it's a bit quiet and with a few mistakes, but she's only 7)
<lj-phonepost journalid="14374825" dpid="690">

So i missed my lunch period today to do some community service by serving my teachers a teacher appreciation lunch. It wasn't so bad, i got lot's of leftover cheescake! But, i did miss my Illiad/Odyssey test... which i wouldn't have complained about except that i didn't have time to study and one of my questions was "Who was the 2nd woman Oddysseus names in Chapter 1?" .. i mean.. who cares?!?

Though my teacher made up for that by casting me as the head prosecution lawyer in our mock trial of Oddysseus on Thursday! =]

Anyway, because of computer problems at school today i spent the length of my bio class listening to Springsteen! (not a bad day eh?)

The Boys are Back in Town

Yay! Sam and Dean are back.. for now!

A Very Supernatural Christmas:

i did enjoy this episode. Emotionally it was great, you laughed and cried and just overall it had a holiday feel to it. No to mention there were some pretty sweet lines =]. I absolutely loved the backstories, more specifically about Dean's amulet and how now Dean was gung-ho Christmas while it was the complete opposite when they were kids.

Daddy's little soldier thinks John's a superhero. While Sammy.... not so much. But I can understand, with Sam supposed to be kept all "innocent" and "sterile" from the hunting world. Dean! You try so hard to be a good parent at age 11(?) Sam should be proud.

The pagan gods scared me sh!tless. Why is it that every older person/child has to be so scary in this show? And i don't think i can look at a chimeny the same way ever again..... but hey, it got some nice caps of the boys! =]

anyway i'll rant on somewhere else because i think most of it has been said by others *cough*(singnovember, handyhunter, julieelaine) ;)

so, here are some icons i made of the episode

off to babysit/bake cookies with my sister! =]

Teardrops are falling from my Eyes

title today is a song from the 1990 John Waters/Johnny Depp colaboration Cry Baby (no Johnny doesn't acctually sing)

anyways, school is boring... lots of stuiped essays (evaluative Truman's desicions of the atomic bomb during WWII) .... did i ever say how much i dislike that subject? And what i would do if i won the lottery (harder then it sounds.... you never want to sound too good or too selfish....)

fun time! meme stolen from singnovember

Pick a fictional character/ character from a fandom I know and I'll answer the following questions.

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.

2) Is he/she important to the general plot?

3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?

4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?

5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s)? (romance-wise or platonic)

6) Is there anything about the character you would change?

7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? etc etc)

8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?

9) Would you hype up this character (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) to someone whose new to the fandom?

10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

Domo (arigato Mr. Roboto?)

heh the title of this post doesn't have anything to do with a certain now popular song by the Styx. It's acctually a little toy my friend Eddie (not the vampire) bought me for hannukah

Um, anyway i went from an 85% on my test to a 98% because my teacher marked 5 of my problems wrong when in fact they where right. This makes me wonder about all those other tests i only "glanced" over. (this one was a major chapter test that's why i actually took the time to look it over)
And oh yes, we're building a database in my computer class and i need a topic. Nothing seems origional enough. The only criteria is that there has to be 40 different subsetings of information(if i was doing actors, it would be the different names) and 10 catagories. I'm stuck right now on TV shows (very unorigional i know) Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Stolen from tehrussianand handyhunter

1.
Pushing Daisies

So i finally got caught up today on all of the Pushing Daisies episodes i've missed (because why waste a saturday doing something productive? Mind you it is a holiday after all ;) ) *Caution* spoilers (if you-like me didn't catch the last few episodes)

Girth.

So wow, yes i havn't watched since Halloween... so far behind! Anyways - i liked the whole ghost horseman idea. Very clever.

The only problem i have with the show is that, it always keeps you on your toes... untill you get to the end. Once you get past the initial "plot twist" towards the end, i almost always guess the ending. Though, it's good that i had no idea what was going to happen up untill then, i think that's mainly because the point where i figure it out is because they mention some random completely weird fact that has everything to do with who acctually killed the person.

I know i probably shouldn't but, for example in CSI i usually had suspicions or nudges to who i thought killed the victims, mainly because all the facts where laid out for you on the table. And really, the rest of the show was either set up to frame someone or turn your head in the right direction. Never some random bit like the guy was acctually ALIVE and living in his mom's basement.....

I did however like how they played off Halloween. Ned does everything for Chuck. (Including living through traumatic childhood flashes of former holidays that where once joyous but now are not). I did love Chuck's purity about Ned, because it's true that she doesn't know much about him now.... and that Olive does know him much much better. I think they could have made that play off a bit better. It just made Olive sound more like a bitch. Especially that kiss at the end. I would have liked to see more of a reaction from Chuck right then and their, mainly because Ned just looked so incredibly guilty. But still very cute. His eyes where pleading - or so it seemed to me.

In general i liked this episode. It seemed to sort of overglorify Olive making her more bitch-like then she already comes across, but that's alright. It seems to fit her character once i got used to it. Though again, with the random information it was a bit jumpy. I can understand about the ashes part (a very cleaver part indeed) but, first her being a Jocky in the first place, and her "pact" with the group that acctually killed John Jacobs, it just seemed like they needed an excuse to get her more involved in their cases. Which, makes sense in the long run (with becoming Chuck's friend at all) but, for the right then and now purposes... a bit too obvious, but still very cute.

Bitches.

Wow, a polygamist... nice twist! Heh, that guy must have been hyped on coffee- getting it from every wife?
I thought it was really cute that the wives sort of matched the personalities of out little decetive group. Chuck had the really sweet, bubbly, cutesy wife. Olive had the high-fashion headstrong woman. Emerson had the comanding, bossy, and stubborn woman. And Ned, oh Ned. He had the phsciatrist, who on the outside was calm and professional, but on the inside needed to pour her heart out. Sitting on that couch i think Ned needed a hug. Ahh Ned and your relationship problems. I love how they adressed that by the way. It wasn't overkill, but just enough to make you want to go 'aww' Though his dream was definatly really creepy, i was very confused. And i could understand why. I wasn't (like a friend of mine) "super pissed off" because i knew that Ned being a guy, has certain needs, that Chuck may not be capable of fufilling. Just like Chuck and the murderer from "Dummy".(i thought it was great that Ned finally realizes this) Sometimes, you just need a hand to hold.

The narrator didn't bug me as much in this episode as well. Let me rephrase that, the narrator didn't bug me to the extent that he normally does on the show. It was cute the first couple times when he would say something and the cast would repeat the same words. But, after about 4-5 episodes, it was seeming like they need to dumb down the show so we'll understand. Honestly, i don't need a narrator to spell out HE HAS 4 WIVES. I can sort of deduce that when Emerson says he has 4 wives. It sort of takes the fun out of thinking into the show. And yes, some of their plots are a bit outrageous (like Girth) but, i think i am capable enough of figuring it out. I mean, if i can figure out that a crazy yellow eyed demon has <strike>a boy crush thing </strike>big plan for Sammy the <strike>prom king</strike> "Chosen One" I think i can understand that the dude was a pimp with 4 wives. (well maybe that's not a good example, because they spelled it out eventually.....)

The framing of the wives was pretty good. It was obvious, with still that mistique of who acctually did it. Though, having that one wife keep Bubblegum alive seemed like a tad bit of overkill. But i understand, you need to give someone a motive and make them look obvious before you reveal your big plot twist....

The plan in the funeral was really cute. Ned sitting in the corner = <3. And his macho football tackling to the ground. So cute. I love how sad he got when Chuck hugged Digby, but it was still really sweet.

Smell Of Sucess.

Wow, explosion right off the bat. And it was very creepy to see the girl all charred and burned and still well, talking. I did love how she didn't even care she was dead. It was just another normal thing to say ..... And she was very polite! Saying sorry for "smoking" when she died... very sweet considering well, she's dead.

The concept of this episode was a bit tough for me. The whole smelling deal? I thought they were all a bit crazy. Especially that pervy pop-up book guy! Sheesh! I did love how Ned continued to look at the book even though he knew it was wrong... hehe. So i tottaly will find tons of books ( not to mention pop up books) on how to make a bomb...but it was pretty obvious that he wasn't the murderer (though i have seen much more idiotic crimes comitted)

Ned looked SO uncomfortable when he was being smelled, while Chuck on the other hand was practically gidy. Not that i would want a random person (who just disenfected me) to smell me that close....

That whole car bomb was a bit too set up. I mean, sure just open your car as you're about 20 feet away... perfectly normal (Well, it's not that it's abnormal as more of i don't see that very often, most people i know tend to open their cars when they're within about 5-10 feet... not a whole street away, unless they have bags or something to put in)

Honestly though, Mr. Artificial smell was starting to creep me out. I mean, no i wouldn't like to smell garbage all day but i would perfer the smell of a crisp autumn breeze then an artificial strawberry smell.... Him and his little disinfection chamber of evil where scary! (But it was perfect that the other nose man... whose name escapes me knew exactly when he was going to try and kill Ned and Emerson..... mind reader much? Or is he Sammy's twin brother?)

And the whole keeping Chuck's sweater at the end.... is it just me or does this guy seem like a stalker? (he's Edward's real father isn't he?)

Bitter Sweets.

For this episode i think they ran down the main "killing" i suppose a bit too quick. It just seemed like they where jamming in too much. That's why it wasn't really a shock when they brough back Bruce..... even if he is madly in love with a doll (to each his own i guess?) But that makes me wonder, why do all the guys on this show have to be creepy? They'res the guys that SMELL you randomly(one of which is a stalker), The polygamist (who you wanted or were supposed to hate) And the really crazy horse jocky kid that lives in his mom's basement.....

But anway, Ned was so cute when he asked Chuck if they were boyfriend and girlfriend. And how protective he was of her! (even if Chuck was tottally flirting back) Hehe "Now that was a crime of passion"

Ned is afraid of causing a scene. I can tottally relate. (especially when my mom always creates one for no reason, or and unessacary occasion) And i knew how he felt about cleaning up "another mess" Though, i thought it was a bit rude of Chuck not to follow him and help, but i guess she wanted to give him "alone time"

My only question was how did the candy place not get shut down for having a dead guy in their taffy, while the Pie Ho (le) was shut down because they have rotton fruit which Olive said they don't use (i know Ned said he used it, but really... a dead guy is way worse considering he was acctualy IN the taffy)

And Mrs. Candy lady is a nutjob !! I really did think she killed him (though technically she did kill someone in the end i guess) But, the health inspector? Could you get anymore random?

So, though the plot (by that i mean the killings) wasn't perfect, i thought the whole Ned/Chuck ordeal was amazingly done. The bothering secret that he eventualy told (out of love) And just being so protective and making everything "official" without making it scary was great! It wasn't a passion overkill in my mind because it was such a huge step for them in their relationship. Such a cliffhanger though! I hope everything turns out alright for Ned's sake, this was already eating up his mind enough....

<lj-embed id="4" />
A musician friend of mine (Scott-the dude in the christmas swearter ^^) just release his new co-written Christmas album! He's a really great guy, and super talented! Not only does he play guitar, drums, piano and a whole slew more - he also is a music teacher in Jersey, and a thrill seeking roller-coaster junkie! (Who apparantly likes to drag his friends *cough* along with him ;) ). He and his partner Megan have compiled an out of the ordianry Christmas CD now in stores. They have recently added one of their (and my) favorite songs to youtube, and it would be great if everyone could check it out! It's a guaranteed laugh! (Not to mention someone *cough* helped with set design *cough*)

You can also support them at their Myspace page found here If you're looking for a funny and unique christmas gift, or even a laugh for the holidays i would deffinatly recomend pickup up their CD or buying a song!

8 Crazy Nights Have Begun!

I love getting into the "hannukah spirit." This morning on the Christmas radio station they played Adam Sandler's Hannukah Song. Nobody else on the bus understood all the little inside jokes... And then of course they'res the giant jewish star made of lights i put on my lawn this morning =]. Haha, and we can't forget the famous candle lighting! Today was my sister's turn, she did pretty well (nobody was burned so that's always a plus!) I can't wait untill sunday, i'm going to bake some gingerbread Rabbi's ;)

Happy Hannukah everyone!!

this post seems a bit short, so meme! Stolen from tehrussian
Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4-7 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5.Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest (unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy. Then go back to step 1).
6. Tag five people.

here goes

"This is acomplished by embracing semiorigional semielitist cultural artifacts that remain just out of reach to those wo desire them- the so called Cocoa Puffs of Power. We all relate to Sonny the Cuckcoo Bird. We pursue that which retreats from us, and coolness is always a bear market. Coolness is always what others seem to have naturally-an unspecific delicious, chocolately paradigm we must pilfer through sub-terfuge. It drevies us for a lack of better terms "coo coo" " page 123 Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs, by Chuck Klosterman

wow, out of context this guy seems like a nut =]

Everything Comes Down To Poo

Everything comes down to poo, from the top of your head, to the sole of your shoe. We can figure out what's wrong with you by, lookin at you poo!

So i *finally* got around to watching the Scrubs episode titled "My Musical" All i have to say is wow. It was amazing! Though, what less could you expect if it was written by the very same people that wrote broadway's hit show Avenue Q? Even the actress that played "KateMonster" had a leading role in this episode! (my my i forgot how high she could go with those notes)

A basic synopsis is a woman faints in the middle of the park where JD (Zack Braff) and Elliot are sitting. When they try to help the woman, she admits that everything she hears is in song. They continue to figure out what's wrong with her (through song) at the Hospital, (and go through some personal problems along the way)They basically treated the case as a "joke" mainly because Dr.Cox thought she was quote on quote "coo-coo pants" since she passed all the major nuerological tests. Sad to say they were only to discover she had a tumor i think it was? In her Temporal Lobe (the lobe responsible for your musical abilities/what you hear) I won't spoil for you the ending in case you do acctually want to watch it =]

If you get nothing else from this post, at least listen to one of my favorite songs!

the answer's not in your head my dear, it's in your butt

even the "Grease-like" song as the end was brilliant! I love how they incorporated all of the different medical terms. Very, very clever!

The tibia, the fibula! The left and right ventricle

(this has also one of my favorite 'JD realizations' at the end. I could really relate! )

All in all i know that Scrubs is a beautifully written show, but this just topped everything.... i really hoped it's renewed again next year for more marvelous episodes such as this one

*coughHannukahpresentcough?* Maybe i'll just buy the season on DVD with birthday money?

Destiny Awaits You Young Vampire?

So, do you belive in destiny? Well of course i do! Like the destiny that Sam and Dean will end up together? Okay, that's more of a hope. Alright then, the destiny that Orlando Bloom will never make another horrible movie in his lifetime? Okay, that's never going to happen... So, maybe destiny is subjective. I belive it is destiny for Ned and Chuck to be together. As it is for Sammy to get Dean out of this godforsaken deal..... but, when you ask me are Bella and Edward destined for each other? I must say... i think not.

On the Lex, the subject came up of if Edward wasn't a vampire, would he and Bella still be destined for each other? Now, most people just said "oh Edward's so hot, he would go to war, come back, propose, and live happily ever after *SWOOON*" But, when i think about it, i see a complete 180 of this viewpoint.

I would say that if they met in the present time (right here, right now. Where as Edward and Bella are around 18-19 years of age and live in Forks)

first, i would say that the series of events that took place that got Edward and Bella interested in each other probably would never have taken place.

1. Edward wouldn't be as "perfect" as he is now. So, Bella may or may not be as drawn to him as she was on the first day. And, Edward would have no reason to "sit as far away" from Bella as possible. Thus, Bella would just think he's an ordinary boy just like Mike. (on the flip side this could mean that Bella and Edward acctually have conversation on that first day and become friends that way)

2. Edward wouldn't have saved Bella from her first "accident". He would have put himself in more danger and i really don't think that any 18 year old guy i know is stuiped enough to try and stop a speeding car.... This way, Bella wouldn't have thought she was crazy or become so fascinated by Edward

3. Thirdly, the night Bella goes into town and Edward saves her from the guys that were "going to do horrible things to her" Would in no way have happened because Edward wouldn't have heard their thoughts, or have been listening out for Bella and her friends since he couldn't read minds. (And of course if in some magical way this was to happen, if i was Bella i would most certainly think Edward was a stalker... no matter how cute)

4. If by some reason, dispite all odds that Bell and Edward come together by "destiny" or whatever, they most certainly would not be getting married anytime soon. Since there's no need too. Bella wouldn't be in any danger, and Edward wouldn't have left her (in theory he could always dump her and i'm sure Bella would just carry on and date someone else since she wouldnt'_need_Edward so much) So, they would just be 2 ordianary kids dating..... So, to answer the question No, i don't think they'd be destined. Unless a series of freakishly wierd coincidences causes them to be....

on the flip side, i just watched Troy and was inspired by Brad Pitt's <strike>lack of clothes </strike>awsome acting. So here are 12 Troy icons

Heloooo Wisconsin (or the rest of the LJ community)

so, ... i finally decided to get a journal. Don't ask me why, i have absolutely no idea =]. Probably because i feel the need to rant and not bother my friends (whether that be in real life or on a message board). Anyway thanks for reading! Have a nice rest of the day? (i'll most likely end up posting more.... or maybe make some icons... it's going to be a long day)

oh yes

GO E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!! *crosses fingers* please win!

p.s the first snow came today!!! =]

So i've recently become fascinated by people. More specifically how people inerract.

Yesterday, i volunteered at my synagauge's Hannukah fair. I was assigned an okay job (better then trash duty) And as i sat in my little chair watching the dredals spin round and round, i glanced over to my left to see an old collegue of mine. Now this person doesn't particularly like me. And that's okay because i don't particualrly like her either. But, i at least have some common courtesy not to give death glares to her from across the room. She shot me a what-the-hell-are-you-doing-here-look. I ignored her and continued watching the little kids giggle as they counted their coins. But, it got me thinking. I havn't seen this person in over a year, and i've never done anything to make her want to hate me, and the first time we meet we already start off on bad terms.... great way to start off my December isn't it?

The other instance that got me thinking was (again yesterday) was my father's birthday. So, i was stuck at home babysitting my sister. Which i don't particularly mind seeing as her favorite show was running a marathon and i had the house to myself practially. So, in my boredom (i mean, how many hours can you spend watching Hannah Montana before it get's annoying?) i called some of my friends to see if they wanted to hang out for a bit. Both people said they would come, but first had to ask their parents. (so far everything's good). 2 hours later i was called into a 3 way (or 4 way since 2 people were using 1 phone) conversation where basically they said they wanted to go to the movies. I said i couldn't leave my house (or my sister) and that it would be okay if they brought whomever to my house. In the end both people who i had origionally asked (2 hours before) decided to go to the movies with my other friend who asked them about 2 hours after i did. What aggrivated me more was that they were making these plans as i was listening to their conversation.....

Maybe this means i need better friends, or maybe it means that people will only interract with others for a benefit. My friends didn't want to come over because the benfit of going to the movies sounded "more fun" So, thus it makes it okay to completely forget about me? Right? Or do the interract on familiarity. My collegue gave me a death stare because she was familiar that I thought she was a liar and annoying (which was true... she may have changed now, i will never know since she apperantly hates me) My friends were familiar with the fact that i can never get a ride anywhere (the perals of not having a license yet) so naturally they don't invite me places.

Dr.Suess once said “A person's a person, no matter how small.” I may be short, and i may not stick up for myself enough, but that doesn't mean that you can just push me aside. I have feelings, whether they notice them or not, and tomorrow they sure will notice. I guarantee
